Lerina Winter was born in the artist-centric southwestern city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Raised by entrepreneurial art-collecting parents and the product of a Waldorf education, she’s been deeply inspired by the act of creativity her whole life.

After exploring her interest in photography throughout high school, Lerina established herself as a professional photographer at the age of 17 and formally started her business two years later. Growing up in the era of film, she vividly remembers the joys of accompanying her mother to drop off 35mm film for development and the excitement of watching Polaroids come to life when her father used them for archiving antiques. Lerina has now been photographing weddings and events for over a decade, and still prefers the feeling and timelessness of film, incorporating it into her client work frequently.

Lerina spends most of her time between California and Alaska and New Mexico, but feels most at home on the road. Before she turned one-year-old, her parents took her to 25 out of 50 states, to which she attributes her tendency for always being on the move. Her love for travel and adventure has paired well with her career as a photographer, taking her from tropical destinations like Havana, Cuba and Cartagena, Colombia, to the urban city centers of San Francisco and New York City, to the rolling wine country regions of Santa Ynez, Paso Robles, and Napa, to the wilds of Southeast Alaska and beyond.

When she’s not behind the lens, Lerina enjoys soaking in the natural wonders that the outdoors has to offer. She can be found hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, canoeing, roadtripping, or perhaps trying an obscure sport she’s never attempted before. Her most recent accomplishment in this department was completing PADI® Open Water Diver Scuba Certification at the end of 2022 and shooting 35mm film underwater for the first time.
